Non-Cooperation and Resignation, 4–5 August 2024

On 3 August 2024, coordinators of Students Against Discrimination had announced a "one-point demand" — the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her cabinet — and rejected her offer of talks at Ganabhaban. The next day, 4 August, the same coordinators launched a nationwide "non-cooperation movement," urging people not to pay taxes or utility bills and not to report to work. Hasina's response was to repeat that the "doors of Ganabhaban are open" for talks; the student coordinators refused the offer. What followed would be the deadliest single day of the July uprising.
